Reality is what you THINK
One of my favorite quotes by Gandhi goes like this: Watch your thoughts, they become your beliefs. Watch your beliefs, they become your words. Watch your words, they become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your habits.
It all starts with a thought. In fact, if you examine your reality right now you will find only two things for sure. You will see, smell, hear, taste or feel objects in your outer world and you will think thoughts about those object in your inner world. The thoughts you think and the matter that comprises you and every other object in this world are all there is to reality.
While science has been busy dissecting and labeling the objects in order to find ‘the truth’, ancient wisdom traditions have focused on cultivating the mind by mastering your thoughts as a way to find ‘truth’. Perhaps not surprisingly, recent discoveries in quantum physics are telling us the wisdom traditions have been right all along. It is becoming apparent that reality is a thought form, a construct of our consciousness. We already know that an atom is 99.999% empty space and that electrons, protons, and neutrons are nothing more than electrical charges, not solid objects. And since we, and everything else in the universe, are made of atoms consider this: if you took every human on earth and compressed the empty space out of them you would only fill ONE sugar cube with the remaining stuff.
So it seems that our thoughts are fundamental and are our key to creation. Nothing becomes something without first being a thought. This is why it is so important to constantly evaluate what thoughts you are thinking. Are they supportive to your unique expression and your dreams? Or are they sabotaging you? The secret sauce is knowing that your thoughts become things and that you can train your thoughts with meditation and mindfulness.
